HOW MUCH WILL I ACTUALLY EARN?

From RareJob, that is.

Upon opening the RareJob top page, you immediately see this quote:

Earn as much as P12,000-P17,000 monthly by teaching English to Japanese ONLINE!

That is possibly how much your salary will be, that is if you work a substantial amount of hours. In RareJob, you earn every 25 minutes as long as a student booked you in that particular slot. Most of the time, your student is online and you have to conduct a 25-minute lesson. But in some instances, he/she might be offline and TA-DA! You earn just by sitting and trying to reach him/her for 10 minutes. The point is you have to work longer hours if you would want to earn more.

Starting salary in RareJob is Php90/hr. So if you work for 5 hours in one night, that means you earn Php450/night, if all your classes are booked.

But what's good about RareJob is that you can increase your salary after working a particular number of hours (say, after 150 hours).

During my time, our starting salary was Php120/hr (Php600/night). After accumulating 150 hours of booked slots, it increased to Php140/hr (Php700/night). And then after another 150 hours, it became Php150/hr (Php750/night)--and that's pretty much the ceiling, I guess.

In RareJob, you earn what you work for. And it's good to plan ahead.

For example, for this month of January 2011, if you plan to work for 25 nights (for 5 hours) and your rate is Php90/hr...

       rate          time (hr)         salary (/night)
        90       x        5        =          450

salary (/night)    no. of days you work      TOTAL
          450           x            25               Php11,250*

*subject to 2% withholding tax so your total will be Php11,025

Not bad for this excludes 6 more hours of teaching during the weekends ;)

So if you plan you have a shopping spree next month, just work longer hours this month. Imagine earning that much in just your pajamas while lounging in your couch/bed.

  5. Is this for real? 90 pesos per hour? I have been working home based online teaching for Koreans for 7 years now and the lowest rate I get is 125 pesos per hour. My morning job pays me 150 per hour. While my evening job pays me a clean 10, 000 pesos a month for a contract of 4 hours a day regardless of how many students I get. 80 and 90 pesos per hour rate is just pitiful and I feel that teachers there are underpaid and under appreciated. :(

    2. Wow. What company do you work for? I am interested. I am currently an unemployed fresh-grad nurse, but I apply in every hospital I know of. And if ever I get accepted (as a volunteer), I want to be able to support my finances. And I think being an online English tutor might help me. Please reply! Thanks.

    3. Hello! I'm currently part of a company that's looking for online English teachers. The company has recently gotten so much more students, so we're really looking for more trainers. The starting salary is substantially higher than what most other online teaching companies offer.

Kindly check out this link if you're interested: http://www.bizmates.jp/ph/recruit/

Referred applicants are given priority, so please don't forget to mention that you were referred to the site by Trainer Jen Sarmiento. :)

    5. Hi..

I just resigned from my work to manage my newly put up business. However I need to find way to still sustain my finances while the business is not established yet. When I check the bizmates site, it is a japanese online tutorial center and no further details on how you start with. I think FAQs are for student and not for trainers. Maybe you can give me further details

Actually, he wants to take up Architecture but due to financial constraints, he settled to a lower course. This makes me sad because I know that he's got his heart set for the Architecture course. 7. Rarejob is actually great. It is partnered with BPI so you will feel secured with the money transfer. If you are a housewife looking after your children, then this is suitable. The time element is very flexible. You can have a 1 hour a day upto its maximum. And it is not a regular schedule. Unlike other online tutorial services, if you started let's say 8:00-8:25 am Monday with student A, it doesn't mean that every Monday at the time you will have that student. Other online services holds you in this kind of term which is quite constricting. I can give you a referral if you want. Just send me your email address. Thanks!

  9. Hello! I have a different problem that I would like to consult with you.

I am currently working at Rarejob and I only started quite recently. I am still a student so I don't know how to go about filing my monthly percentage tax. Can you help me? I've tried searching online and asking the local BIR branch but they're not much help. I actually doubt them both since I think Rarejob tutors have a different case than what these two imply. So I thought maybe you could tell me how and what you did on your first time as Rarejob tutor?

Sorry for this out of context question but thank you. :)

  14. Hello! I'm currently working in RareJob. They're base rate is up now to Php100/hr. Also, you can apply as a premium tutor-- tutors who specialize on new students, teenagers, business, or speaking lessons. Every premium lesson is worth Php80/lesson thus that would be Php160/hour. A lesson still lasts for 25 minutes but it worth as 30 minutes. The tutor support staffs are very supportive thus I like staying there. Also, they pay ON TIME so I feel really comfortable with my money. Also, they now accept people from any school as long as you pass the exams. :) If you are interested, you can comment your email here. :)

  15. Aside from the 10% withholding tax, is there really a need to pay the monthly percentage tax?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, you don't have to pay the monthly percentage tax if 10% is already witheld from you. Maybe if you can get the company to show you proof that they do actually remit your tax to the BIR, you can show this proof to BIR if they do check you.

  19. Hello! I am a RareJob tutor. Although I am currently an undergraduate student in UP, I can say that RareJob is a great company who gives opportunities to everyone. They also pay extra to those tutors who are more dedicated. My base rate is Php100/hr. However, they may have weekly incentives so you can earn up to 3,000-4,000 on a weekend! You can also apply as a premium tutor. The working time is very flexible and you can earn by just sitting comfortably on your bedroom chair! :)

Moreover, while I am teaching, I also get to learn a lot of things! That is the thing I love most about RareJob, all the materials needed for the sessions are all provided. Also, all the staff are very friendly.

If you want to become a RareJob tutor, please comment below your email :) Do not worry you can also email me if you have any questions with your application process :)
